Urban Myths

You know how you hear about these things that someone's friend once did, or a brother of a friend etc? Well you never expect people to actually do them!!

Yesterday Bas and I decided to get off our butts and take the old washing machine and tumble dryer to the tip (I've never been to a tip in my life. I kind of had an image in my head of a huge big hole in the ground which people chucked stuff into. But no, they're really organised with different containers for different things). Anyway, back to the story. So we managed to get the washing machine down the two flights of stairs and seriously, whoever designed washing machines ought to be shot, nearly broke my sodding arm! So after breaking it halfway down the outside stairs and covering the steps in dirty water we got it out to the car, managed to half lift, half throw the damn thing into the boot. There all done. Then I see Bas reach for the boot. I open my mouth to say something, but think... no, I don't need to voice what I'm thinking. Then Bas slams the boot shut withough checking where the machine is and there's an almighty crash as the washing machine goes straight through the back window! The was complete silence for a while and then I burst out laughing and couldn't stop. It was one of the funniest things I've seen in ages.

So on Monday the car has to go to the doctor to get a new back windscreen in - in the mean time we have a car with bin bags taped over the back. It looks really classy :)

Today we have the job of finally getting the cement down on the floor in the bathroom so that we can start tiling and getting the room finished. I'm rather looking forward to it - I've never done this kind of DIY before. I have been informed by one of my friends that I really should be wearing a skimpy white top underneath dungarees but unfortunately I have neither of these (actually I probably have a white top somewhere but can't be bothered to look for it). And knowing me I'll probably end up getting covered in cement and if this happens I have promised pictures.
